We all agree that Fall is one of our favourite seasons. The weather is perfect, we still have some mild/warm days and of course, we can enjoy that unique show from nature when the trees are changing their colour to an array of golden yellows, oranges, and reds. It is, without a doubt, beautiful. But that’s not all, during autumn we can enjoy many festivities, like Thanksgiving, Oktoberfest and of course, Halloween!
Of the whole Fall season, October seems to be the busiest month, so we must make the most of the last days of October, enjoy the Fall festivals and be ready for Halloween. If you are travelling to Ontario, check out these awesome ideas to Explore Ontario while enjoying the last days of autumn.
Pumpkin Picking and Carving
A fun thing to do during this season is, of course, visiting Pumpkin farms and choosing the best and biggest pumpkin. You can either visit the small local farm near your place or travel more to a bigger farm and spend the day enjoying different activities like shows, farm animals, food trucks and more.
If you live near Toronto, an excellent option is Whittamore’s Farm in Stouffville/Markham. An iconic and well-known farm across Ontario for providing lots of fun during the Fall season with Pumpkinland. This family farm has been operating for over 60 years and this year will be their last since they are closing their gates for good at the end of the season. If you know this place and it brings you good memories, this is the opportunity to visit it one last time. If you haven’t been there yet, it is our top recommended place to go!
Visit Whittamore’s farm during the weekend and have fun with activities like Jumbo Pumpkin Jumper, a corn maze, one thousand pumpkins, farm animals, and more. If you love walking, the farm has a total land of 330 acres and has plenty of trails so you can enjoy a nice walk with the lovely weather we still have. Bring your canvas backpack with some snacks so you can enjoy a picnic on the farm. Lastly, your trip is not complete if you don’t get a delicious slice of pumpkin pie for dessert!
Take your pumpkin home and get your creativity flowing by carving a crazy design. To add extra fun, have a contest with your friends or neighbours and see who does the best pumpkin carving!
Halloween Haunt, Canada’s Wonderland
Are you a big fan of rides and haunted themed parks? This one is for you! Halloween Haunt is an event Canada’s Wonderland has for 14 terrifying nights during September and October before closing their gates until the next year. Every year more people attend Halloween Haunt and they can’t stop talking about how much fun they had. So, if you don’t mind getting really scared and screaming a bit, visit Canada’s Wonderland to celebrate Halloween. Remember to be brave!
Don’t forget to bring your water repellent backpack and a poncho since you never know when it will rain, after all, we leave in Canada and this is fall. Also, pack an extra sweater since high up on the rides it can get colder. This is an awesome place to go with your friends for Halloween!
Lastly, don’t forget to put on your scariest costume! Halloween is not complete if you don’t dress up, and it is even better if you make your own and have a contest with your friends. Share your Halloween adventures with us, we want to see how you spent your last days of fall! Happy haunting!
