Best Hiking Adventures to Explore with Your Backpack in BC

Best Hiking Adventures to Explore with Your Backpack in BC

April 05, 2018

The beautiful province of British Columbia has some of the best hiking adventures to explore with your backpack, especially during spring. Due to its natural beauty, BC has many mountains and trails that will take your breath away. Spring is a great season to enjoy different outdoor activities, see nature bloom and watch the many animals waking up from hibernation. Watch out for bears, though!

So, there is no reason to wait any longer! Grab your TruBlue canvas and leather backpack, and jump into great hiking adventures to explore BC. One of the things I love the most about this incredible province is that you can drive just a few hours from Vancouver and you will find stunning landscapes and views. But, where should we start?

Hiking Backpack BC - Crystal Falls

  • Crystal Falls, Coquitlam

To strengthen your legs after the winter, we recommend you begin with easy to moderately difficult trails. For this reason, Crystal Falls located east in Coquitlam is a great option for you. This scenic waterfall drains into the Coquitlam river and to get there is a 7 km easy trail that shouldn't take longer than an hour or two, depending on how many pictures with your classy everyday backpack you want to take along the way.

Since you are visiting a waterfall and Vancouver is well known for being rainy, we recommend you bring your Yukon water repellent backpack, so all your personal items and your camera can be safe from getting wet. Or, if you prefer to carry your Trublue canvas rucksack and add extra protection only if it starts raining, we recommend you get a backpack rain cover, and your valuables will be protected and dry. Invite your friends and make this a day trip, choose a place to sit down and enjoy a snack while hearing the relaxing sound of the waterfall.

Hiking Backpack BC - Buntzen Lake

●     Buntzen Lake, Port Moody

Take the incredible trail around Buntzen Lake, just one hour away from Vancouver, and enjoy a great 10 km walk with amazing views. The Buntzen Lake area is a popular recreational park that offers a network of hiking trails to explore. The most popular trail among visitors is the one that loops around the lake, since you pass through the scenic forest, enjoy views of the lake and cross a suspension bridge. Even though the trail has an easy difficulty level, it can take you about 3.5 hours to complete it. So, pack your favourite Canadian outdoors backpack with snacks and drinks to enjoy a nice picnic while admiring the views.

Buntzen Lake Park is a perfect place to spend a nice spring day with your friends. If you don’t feel like walking much, the park has tables and green area to have a picnic and enjoy a snack with a view that will take your breath away. We recommend you still go for a short hike to really say that you have explored BC and don’t forget your camera, there are so many spots to take great shots of your classy TruBlue canvas backpack that will make your friends envy your adventures.

Hiking Backpack BC - Lighthouse Park

●     Lighthouse Park, West Vancouver

If you are an adventure seeker, there is no doubt that B.C. is the right place for you. Scenic forests, mountains, sea, lakes, beaches, parks... it has it all. If you like views of the ocean with the sunset behind, visit Lighthouse Park, it is one the most beautiful parks located at the shores of West Vancouver just 40 minutes away from the capital. This is a favourite spot for visitors since the views are stunning and you can take some epic photos.

The hiking trail that loops around the park has about 6 km with an easy difficulty level which makes it a great option to go with your family or friends to spend the afternoon. Plan your route and make sure to end your journey at the lighthouse, where your pictures with your TruBlue everyday companion backpack will look amazing. Bring your favourite blanket and enjoy a sandwich while contemplating the sun setting on the horizon.

You don’t have to travel far to find amazing hiking adventures to explore with your backpack just a few hours away from Vancouver. Make the most of your spring. Summer is coming but you can start enjoying the warmer weather now! Share your favourite hiking spots with us and tag us in your photos with your TruBlue Backpack!
